Dennis once completed an Apprenticeship in Graphic Arts - Letterpress Printing. His studies of ink and the daily use of a pallet knife has been of incredible value to his application and use of paint and the pallet knife today. His experience in ink colour mixing was because he headed the Ink Section of a Major Printing Company. This experience and knowledge is invaluable to his use of colours in his art.
the artist in dennis – 'la boheme in rhapsody' Dennis Randall studied Charcoal Drawing and Art as a teenager and painted Contemporary Seascapes in oils under the teaching of a local artist in her Studio Classes. Following criticism of his work and being dejected because of the non acceptance of his abstract style he continued throughout life secretly drawing and collecting images in his mind and books. He also collected memories and is now releasing these with his personality onto canvas in acrylics and oils. Adding to his desire to paint in his own collection of colours, he is also painting with a zest that is expressed through his individual personality revealed through his eclectic Art and eccentric style of life. Since he recommenced painting in May 2005 he has exhibited in Tighes Hill Art Gallery - Newcastle NSW -'Stockroom Show: The Best of the Best' July/Sept. 2006. He was a finalist in 2 sections of The Newcastle Emerging Art Prize 07 against very highly trained student finalists and dead heated first prize (with himself – 2 entries) in the 07 Newcastle Indoor Matara (Contemporary Section) Art Competition. Dennis has been given encouragement from several top Australian artists who have compared his zest for that of another Australian artist, who recommenced painting after his Sixtieth Birthday, and now in his prime of life Dennis is looking for a studio home to finish his works and see the life in art to paint. Dennis has received very good recommendations from people who have seen his textured style of work and his work has been compared to several famous Australian and present Overseas Artists in style and quality.
