Why Promote Health?

My interest in health promotion was aroused at the age of seventeen, when my mother died from a stroke. It occurred to me that her ill health was largely the result of poor lifestyle choices and inappropriate medication. What a waste of life!

I began to realise that our reliance on modern medicine was at best naïve, and health education and preventative health practices were the way of the future.

Many years later, I stumbled across a Curtin University handbook, and while flipping through its pages I discovered Health Promotion. This course promised to provide all of the necessary training I needed to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of my loved ones, and the community at large.
