The Bungle Bungles and the Ord River Scheme

Ancient sand dunes?

This pic was taken on a flight to the Bungle Bungles.

The Kimberley region was under the ocean 600 million years ago.

This land-form is probably the result of earth movement since that time, but it looks like dunes to me!

I recommend that you take a look at this pic in full size. The colours and textures are magnificent.

The Bungle Bungles

These amazing geographic formations have been carved by wind and water over many millions of years.

Another warning, don’t eat breakfast before flying over them in a six seater plane, the turbulence is a killer!

Lake Argyle

This man make lake was created by damming the Ord River. The water from this lake flows into Lake Kununurra and irrigates the rich farm lands in the area.

Lake Kununurra

This lake is fed by Lake Argyle, and is therefore full all year around.

As a result, rushes on its banks are lush and full of wildlife.

If you ever get the opportunity to travel to Kununurra, may I suggest you book a cruise on the lake with Duncan Tours, their tour was superb!

Thankyou for boarding this flight!

Now for a tour along the Gibb River Road?

Or why not visit the Snowy Mountains?
