THE DNA CONNECTION
DNA SURVEY
The participants first tested using a 10 "marker" survey and later using a 25 "marker" survey. I think some have even taken DNA tests involving even more "markers"
WHO TOOK PART
Only male "PAGE" people took part in the 10 marker survey and 25 marker survey. Why? It's something about Y-line chromosomes that only get passed from father to son and not father to daughter. Or something like that. Anyway, the testing his has taken place over the last 3 or 4 years to the best of my knowledge and still continues today.
THE RESULTS
Obviously I can not print the actual results of my father DNA survey. I can say that my father took part in both surveys exactly matched 4 other participants in the 10 marker survey and 3 other participants in the 25 marker survey. Here are some interesting results.
Of the many many participants, participant No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 29 and 37 share a common ancestor with John Page of Haverhill, MA who immigrated c. 1635.
Participant No. 2 No.2 (my father) has traced his ancestry back to Thomas Page who was one of the earliest settlers of Walpole, MA. Thomas married Sarah Robbins also a resident of Walpole, MA., on 8 Sept. 1741/42, Thomas' origins are unknown.
NOTE: Thomas and Sarah had 9 children. Most relocated from Walpole, Norfolk Co., MA to Keene and Marlborough, Cheshire Co., NH for reasons unknown. Two other sons stayed in Walpole and another son relocated a short distance from Walpole to the town of Stoughton, MA.
Participant No. 3 The grand father of No.3 (who lives in Danvers, MA) immigrated to America in 1888! His ancestry goes back to Thomas Page of Attleborough, co. Norfolk, Eng. (b. 1705) a farmer, died at Carleton Rode in 1788 who had been Overseer of the Poor in nearby Besthorpe.
Participant No. 4 No. 4’s father was Walter DeRoy PAGE, b March 21, 1912 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, the son of Marion Woodbury PAGE, b c 1882. (I believe this participant has now traced his ancestry to Rockton, WI and Atkinson, NH)
Participant No. 5 No. 5 is descended from John Page of Haverhill through his son, Benjamin. He, or his father, is #10.192 in the reference book on p. 190.
NOTE: This is important. This participant has proved his ancestry on paper all the way back to John Page of Haverhill, MA.!!!
Participant No. 37 No. 37’s gggrandfather was Ephraim Page, b. 2 March 1813 in NH.
CONCLUSION
My personal view..... it appears to me that these participants do share a common ancestor. This common ancestor was probably pre1600's and located somewhere in England.
The
history of John Page of Haverhill who immigrated c.1635 points to his co.
Norfolk origin. John Page of
Haverhill appears to be the son of Thomas who m. a Joane Baker on Sept. 13,
1607, or Oct. 4, 1607 in Rattlesden, county Suffolk, England (about 8 miles se
of Bury St. Edmunds). Some researchers state the emigrant may have baptized on 1
May 1614 in Worlingham (near Beccles, about 7 miles se of Lowestoft), in co.
Norfolk, England, as the son of Thomas and Cicely Page.
