FACTS ABOUT THOMAS PAGE
1) On page 59 Thomas Page, his wife Sarah Robbins and Children are mentioned in the book by Charles Nash Page titled "History and Genealogy of the Page Family from 1257 - 1911." Thomas is said to be one of the earliest settlers of Walpole, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts.
2) On page 17 Thomas Page, his wife Sarah Robbins and children are mentioned in the book by Adela [Page] Thorne titled "History of The Page Platter, from 1629 to 1902."
3) The following is from the book "History of the Robbins Family of Walpole MA." by Dana Robbins in 1949. The entry in this book makes the following mention about Thomas Page. "Sarah b. Oct 23 1722 m. Sep 8 1742 to Thomas Page". Unfortunately, that's all it says about Thomas Page.
4) Thomas' grave stone says [quote] "Thomas Page Died 22 April 1786 Aged 65 years." (then he would of been born 1720 -1721) But he could of been born earlier. See note #7.
5) All Thomas' sons served in the Revolutionary War.
6) On the lower section of the grave stone of Thomas Page and Sarah Robbins is their
son Joseph Page and his wife Lois Turner. It's hard to read the bottom of the
gravestone but I believe is says Lois was b:4 Apr. 1762 and d:11 Feb 1814.
7) Thomas first appears in the Walpole, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts tax records paying "Poll Tax" in October of 1737.
NOTE:
If he starts to pay tax for the first time at the age of 21 years*, then he was probably born about 1916 - 1717 ..... and NOT born about 1720 - 1721 as calculated from his gravestone.
OR
Thomas has recently arrive in Walpole prior to Oct. 1737 and pays "poll tax" for the first time. In this case, he could be any age.
*According to the researchers at the NEHGS, people did not start to pay "poll tax" until they were age 21 years. Not before.
8) The Thomas Page who resided in Walpole, Norfolk Co., MA is related to the John Page clan of Haverhill MA. It's been proven by DNA.
