| Most couples spend a great
deal of time, energy and money on a wedding ceremony that lasts a few hours.
But they spend little time acquiring relationship skills needed to build
a marriage that could last 50 years or more. Granted, it's much easier to prepare for a successful wedding than a successful marriage but investing just a little in the success of your marriage is of great importance. Every couple hope to live happily every after but the statistics tell us that this is not the case. Divorce rates are on the increase. Couples living together think they know each other well enough and do not need any training for marriage. It is true that they do know each other well, but that is only in their current roles and not in a married role. By participating in pre-marriage education couples are given the opportunity to increase their awareness and understanding of key marital issues and to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to strengthen the relationship. By taking these steps it give them potential to develop a more mutually satisfying and longer lasting relationship. |
