Welcome to the
Castletower Droughtmaster website.

We are Keith and Jo Hill, and we run our herd of Droughtmaster cattle on properties near Calliope in Central Queensland. Our stud is located about 110 km south of the "Beef Capital of Australia", Rockhampton, and 25 km south-west of Gladstone.

We purchased our first registered females from well known studs at the Gympie National Female sale back in 1998. Droughtmasters were chosen as the ideal cattle for our country: they are tick and fly resistant, highly fertile and able to survive drought conditions and still produce calves.

Our goal has always been to breed the best cattle in Central Queensland, so we started out with artificial insemination programmes designed to produce excellent quality. In 2000 we were able to purchase Swan Heart, the Champion Droughtmaster Female at Beef 2000, and her heifer calf at foot, Swan KitKat. Swan Heart has become the foundation female of an exceptional line of cattle through the use of Embryo Transfer.
