Grows as a small tree in the arid and semi arid areas in the southern half of Australia. Being a semi parasitic plant, hosting on nearby plants to gain nutrition.

The round fruit range in colour from yellow, pink to deep shinny red. Having a distinctive tart flavour, sweetened with sugar or honey. Re-hydrated in water, dried fruit can de made into sauces, jams, dried fruit leather etc.

Traditionally Aboriginal people would eat the raw flesh or dry it out to store for later use.

Some nutritional information, flesh is high in vitamin C, and low in sugar.

The hard pitted seed can be cracked  open the get the kernel out. It contains toxic principal that must be roasted to make it edible. Seed can be also used in craft work, drilled and strung together for jewellery etc..

Fruit is ripe from September-November, harvested from friends gardens and plantation, some sprayed with pesticides other not.
