This page lists concert and class room tuned percussion instruments, Orff instruments and various miscellaneous instruments currently for sale. For guitars and other stringed instruments, or amplification, click on the following pages.
These items may be new or second hand, or refurbished as needed.
All second hand instruments are guaranteed to be in as good if not better playing condition than when new. In replacing
for example rubber parts on xylophones and metallophones, I often use better quality materials than used in manufacture.
Please contact me if you are after something in particular. As Musaics primary focus is the manufacture, repair,
and sale of tuned percussion I can guarantee that all tuned percussion instruments for sale are also instruments I can
service, and supply parts for. Any class room xylophone or metallophone for example can be purchased with complete
confidence with regard to its ongoing use, no matter how harsh the class room environment. I can sometimes supply genuine parts,
but failing that I can pretty much make anything for these instruments.
All prices are inclusive of GST. I am able to organise freight, if required, the cost of which will depend on destination.
For schools wishing to order, I am able to provide ABN and invoice the school.
Regarding warranties on items listed here, this will vary. All new instruments when indicated as new, are covered
by the manufacturers warranty. Any tuned percussion items I have listed as second hand refurbished I
guarantee for 3 months, and possibly longer, at my discretion, and depending on the situation. All tuned
percussion manufactured by myself I am happy to guarantee for the life of that instrument. This means anything excluding
normal wear and tear of normal or extreme usage, and can be taken to include for example changes in tuning of xylophone bars, which
I will re tune free of charge for their life. It does not include for example perishing of rubber components, which is part
of an instruments wear and maintenance.
Anything needing to be returned will need to be returned to Musaics, at the cost of the purchaser,
at which time I will repair, replace or refund as required.
I can supply a range of mallets designed for use with most classroom instruments. Mallets come in various sizes and hardness,
to suite various instruments. The general rule is, the higher up the range of the instrument,
the harder the mallet needs to be to enable the instrument to speak. So, for example, you would want a softer and larger
head on a mallet for a bass xylophone, and a smaller and harder head on a soprano xylophone. Using a hard mallet on a bass
xylophone tends to bring out the higher harmonics, or, if you like, gives the sound a harder edge, and does not allow
the fundamental note of the bar to sound. This might be required in specific situations, but mostly it just sounds unpleasant.
A soft mallet used on a soprano xylophone or a glock just does not give much sound, and often results in the bar being
bounced off the instrument. Having said this, there are times when this rule may not apply, i.e. using a soft felt mallet
on a soprano metallophone can sound very nice, if a little soft.
Mallets that I manufacture are made with grey PVC handles, that can stand a reasonable amount of punishment
(certainly better than wooden handles). I also provide a range of mallets sourced from elsewhere.
As new instrument. 37 hard aluminum alloy gold anodised bars, range F33 to F69. Infinitely variable very quiet motor with linear fader. This vibraphone is an original Saito 1500 frame that was acquired by myself, without the bars. As such I have manufactured all the bars on this instrument. It has been played by a professional player who was unable to distinguish between these bars and the originals (borrowed for the purpose of comparison). Price: $7000. The recommended retail of this instrument is $12,576, making this close to half price. Come check it out!
I am listing this instrument on behalf of the person selling it. All enquiries go to Paul Judd.

For any of my usual school customers, or any new ones for that matter, I would be happy to check this instrument to make sure it fits your requirements. I do like Saito instruments, and am always happy to recommend them. From a repairs perspective, Saito are happy to provide parts, and are helpful in sorting out problems.

Like the xylophone shown above, this classroom metallophone starts at F below middle C and

the vocal range of your average grade 5 or 6, year 7 or 8 boy. This is also a Bauer instrument, that has some original
bars as well as bars made by myself.

These chime bars, or tone bars as they are often referred to, are tuned to 250hz, 500 Hz, 1khz, 2khz and 4khz respectively.
They are used by audiometrists and
pediatric audiologists involved in Behavioural
Observation Audiometry Assessment. This particular range featured wooden resonating chambers. I will be changing this
design at some stage. Price on application, and dependent on number required.

These large bass tone bars are pitched in the octave below the bass xylophone. The one shown here is a C, two octaves
below middle C. The bar itself is 75 cm long, so they are quite large, for just one note. I have a number of odd ones
of these, having toyed with the idea of making them a while ago. Price will depend on number of notes required.

New, in perfect condition. This stand adjusts by raising or lowering the centre rod, and
sliding the bell support up and down the centre rod. The rubber ball at the end of the rod is 25 mm (1 inch) in diameter,
so this stand will accommodate any brass instrument with a bell, that has a 25 mm diameter section along the bell.
It is ideal for trombones as the bell support can be raised high enough from the ground to allow for the slide.
Would also suite trumpets, cornets etc.
